The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild introduces a unique crossover event that allows players to unlock a special armor set inspired by Xenoblade Chronicles 2. This collaboration quest gives Link access to the distinctive Salvager gear worn by Rex, blending the aesthetics of Alrest with the vast world of Hyrule. Completing this challenge requires players to scan the night sky from specific locations to locate falling red shooting stars.

Activating the Collaboration Quest

To begin your treasure hunt, you must check your quest log for a side quest titled Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The description provides cryptic riddles that point toward three distinct geographical landmarks across Hyrule. You must visit these locations strictly at night to witness the celestial event that drops the armor pieces.

Make sure you arrive at each destination before midnight to ensure you have enough time to spot the falling stars. A loud whistling noise along with a bright red streak will signal the arrival of the treasure chest. Tracking these signals is essential for completing the full collection efficiently.

Finding the Salvager Headwear

The first riddle directs players to the center of the largest bridge in Hyrule, which points directly to the Bridge of Hylia. Travel to the middle of this massive stone structure during the night and turn your camera view toward the southern sky. A red shooting star will quickly impact the nearby shoreline or water, leaving a glowing beacon.

Swim or glide down to the impact site to discover a metallic chest wrapped in red light. Opening this specific container grants you the Salvager Headwear, completing the first phase of the quest. This piece provides a useful boost to your baseline swim speed when navigating deep waters.

Locating the Salvager Vest

The second clue guides adventurers to the left eye of a skull-shaped island located far to the north. This refers to Skull Lake situated in the Akkala region, where you must climb the exceptionally tall stone pillar forming the left eye. Stand on top of the pillar at night and face toward the eastern horizon to trigger the event.

Watch for the signature red flash as the meteor hits the surrounding cliffsides or shallow waters below. Carefully descend from the pillar to claim the chest containing the Salvager Vest from the impact zone. Equipping this torso gear further enhances your overall mobility when exploring aquatic environments.

Retrieving the Salvager Trousers

The final part of the riddle points toward the peak of a high, snow-capped mountain pierced by a sharp piercing eye. This location corresponds to the summit of Hebra Peak, which requires cold-resistant gear or meals to safely navigate. Once you reach the absolute highest point of the mountain, direct your gaze toward the southeastern sky.

The final shooting star will descend rapidly onto the snowy slopes, creating a bright beacon visible from the summit. Slide down the mountainside to open the final chest and secure the Salvager Trousers for your inventory. Wearing the complete set increases your swim dash speed and makes exploration much faster.
